Hello all,

I have a 1986 Suzuki Samurai 1.3l. She's almost stock aside from the Weber carb that I installed over a year ago.

So, after searching for months for a replacement stock manifold for the broken one that I have been sporting for almost 6 months now, I realized that the huge crack down the back of my manifold is not an uncommon problem. This would explain why almost everyone has headers these days, and the stock unit in good condition is impossible to find.

So, after a few paychecks and a couple months of research to find the best header for the cost and my application, I decided on the stainless steel tri-Y headers from LowRange OffRoad.

They arrived on Thursday:

Now, the rest of the exhaust is pretty much useless as the exit pipe from the headers is 2" wide. So, I have decided to custom build the rest. Why not? I chose a newer-style OBD2 style cat for durability. Now all that is left for me to decide is the muffler.

Right now, I am torn between a Borla and a FlowMaster. I am looking to bring out Sammy's throaty tones without the 4cyl twang. I may even add a resonator if necessary.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these mufflers on a Sammy or anything else, and what you think about them. I have been searching through youtube videos too and haven't been successful.

Thanks in advance!

I just had a Borla removed from my Samurai. Not by choice it had to get removed because it was bent and smashed. I had a Flow Master installed and like the sound of this one more than the Borla. But just as my motorcycle it is all about preference since you will be the one dealing with it. Hope you find out what you want.

What is it about the FlowMaster that you like better? Do you happen to have a video of your new exhaust? :)
Thanks for the input!

No video yet I just got it done 2 days ago. So far what I like about it is that it is not as loud as the Borla. The sound is a little deeper tone on the Flow Master than the Borla. Or it could have also been that the old muffler had a hole on it.

For a muffler I just went down to the local farm and ranch supply and picked up one for a tractor that had a 2" inlet and outlet. They are vary durable and sound really good on 4 cylinders. The one I got is for an Alice Chambers and cost around US$25.00.

Out here in the boonies where I am at I don't have a good enough internet connection to upload a video.
