[attachmentid=94] Hi, i just purchased a vitara, however i have no idea what are the function of some switches on dash and near the gear level. can anyone help me? thks.

There is a switch at 1 o’clock of the gear level; the switch is labeled N, A/T and P

Another switch is at 7 o’clock of the steering wheel, it is red in colour

Pls see photo for more details.

The switch that says A/T (N/P) is basically an extra "boost". When using the highway, turn it to P for faster acceleration because it changes the gear timing. During normal stop-n-go driving, turn it to N.

As for the red switch, I have no idea.

actually it does not add any 'boost'. All a/t switch does is to *slightly* change the shift points of the trans. 'N' means normal and 'p' means power.. On my XL7 I cannot feel any difference. same shift points.. Generally the power is for towing as it is sopposed to raise the shift points by a few hundred rpm. On th ehighway it makes no difference because you are gong to be in top gear anyway..
The other switch is aftermarket that a previous owner installed. It can control anything.. Maybe fog lights??
