Man, I can not believe the amount of vaccum and electrical crap associated with the stock carb. In Texas we are pretty relaxed about emmission equipment so as I have installed the weber conversion I have removed all the vacuum EGR, vapor cannister, and emission stuff. I am installing the weber conversion with manual choke. I have two questions:
1. Should I change the jets before I install the weber kit? Or do I try it out with the kit jetting first?
2. What do I do about all the left over carb wiring in the engine compartment? Will I screw up the electical system if I terminate it at the harness? There is a ground wire at the thermostat. Can I terminate that also?

Welcome b butler. Cannot help with the carb jets....I'd say try it with what you got in there now. I can help with the wiring. Most of the emission and carb wiring is on the right side of the engine. There will be alot of ground wires in the harness all connected to the different points. You will need to start by pealing off all the tape from the wires. Start out at the very end and work you way to the firewall.By the time you get back that far you will be able to see what wires you need. Don't cut them at the firewall. Do not disconnect wires from alt or temp sensor. Tape over all the bare connectors to avoid shorting out. Pretty much everything else can be coiled up and rolled in tape and stuffed behind the battery. Wrap the remaining wires out to the Alt and temp sensor. Hope this helps.

It won't be pretty but you can leave it all there but disconnected and it won't hurt anything I ran mine like this for years with no problems.

If you are going to mess with the jetting get an O2 meter, even a cheap led readout hooked up to a narrowband sensor is better than guessing.
