Guys, anybody here has experienced installing a voltmeter or
ammeter in your zukis? This is for monitoring your alternator if it
supplies voltage properly to your battery.

installation cost? unit cost(voltmeter)?

yeah i've been askin around for that.
I've talked to a mechanic he said its really cheap to buy and
install especially if its just a plain gauge that you see
on jeepneys. it will cost less than 300 this includes the installation.

Bro Bruce Li. I have an experience on this 60-0-60 Amps ammeter. I installed it on my Scrum to monitor the current consumption of my sounds. I did installed it in series with the positive side of my battery. This ammeter's needle is pointing at the top center or at Zero (0) point of the meter. During the engine startup, it will swing to the negative side (mine reads about -20 Amps). In this way, you can take a glance on your battery's instantaneous current load from your starter. It will then point to the positive side of the meter to indicate the charging current of your alternator.
My alternator is rated 40Amps & it charges only 15 Amps @ engine idle and up to 25Amps(max) @ higher rpm.

For the Voltmeter, just buy a China made mini LCD tester, it cost about P150 in Manalili. The display size is 0.6" with up to two dicimal places and it has an accuracy of +/-.25 Volts, pretty much acceptable.

I'm also on my way assembling a LED digital Voltmeter/Ammeter(DIY), I will post some pics later.

Info:?????????
I have read some articles on the net that alternators are usually capable of supplying 40% of its current rating. It was not specified if the engine is @ idle or @ higher rpm and also hot/cold conditions was not stated. Mga Bro! Please enlighten me if i'm wrong. :)

syfertex,

thanks on that info on ammeter, i also have a digital voltmeter w/c I
use to check my battery from time to time, I'm looking for that gauge
w/c I can install on my dashboard. As you well know, I have a problem
with dead engine & until now, I haven't solved it yet. I'm suspecting
my alternator is defective, so I like to install a gauge for it.

I will attach my notes on ammeter/voltmeter. Maybe you can get some
points there. Pls. go directly on the topic ammeter / voltmeter.
