I usually only do shortish journeys without connecting the phone via CarPlay but, although the phone connects via Bluetooth, I’ve just noticed that voice recognition via the Suzuki system has stopped working.

When I use the voice command button, the infotainment screen displays a message saying wait for voice prompt and three icons (back, record, and stop). Needless to say the voice prompt never arrives.

The voice command button works fine with Siri when the phone is connected via CarPlay so I’m sort of ruling out hardware. The only thing that’s crossed my mind as I type this post is that I’ve removed the SD map data card. I’ll reinsert it tomorrow just in case.

Anyone know whether that’s a likely cause ?

I have t updated the SDLA firmware since I bought the car as everything has been working fine up until now - or at least last time I needed to use the onboard voice recognition.

Well who knew. Putting the nav data card back in restored full Suzuki voice functionality. Clearly the card holds more than map data.
