There's two vacuum switching valves that may be the one you're talking about.

on the back of the carburettor for the EGR modulator
[_] (filter hat for VSV)
.||--------- (vacuum to EGR)
.||}====== (electric connector to wire harness)
..|
..|
(vacuum to EGR modulator)

and on the front of the intake manifold by the engine valve cover.

................................ [_] (filter hat for VSV)
(vacuum to idle up)---||
(manifold vaccuum)---||}====== (electric connector to wire harness)

If you see three ports then you are probably missing the filter canister that sits on top of the VSV.

I don't know if this will help because mine Zuki is an 87, but here is what it looks like.

If it looks right and you need to see more just let me know and I'll take a video of it and post it on youtube...

maybe I wasn't clear in my post. You have 2 vaccum lines to the VSV. The third port is for a filter hat to sit on. It allows it to draw in ambient air through that port which is why they put a little can on it with a filter to keep you from sucking crud into the engine. It also restricts the vacuum draw a little so you don't run it out too lean when it's in the open air position. That top pic shows it with the filter hat off.

Baratacus I understood your post. Just wanted to post a pic to make sure.

If their different on different models, where do you suggest i go to find out witch one im supposed to have. dont realy know what has been done to this zuk so i dont know if its the right one.

Thanks.

sometimes my posts get confusing so I wanted to be sure you understood. the 87 and 88 are the same vsv. Yours is upside down and it looks like someone replaced the plastic port for the filter can with a brass tube. Clever! I've broken two of those plastic ones off. It's easy to do. Untill now I hadn't found a good fix for it. You can't see the filter can on DWCARR1's picture because it's on the bottom where it's obscured from view.

There was another topic about the vsv filter and I think I suggested a cigarette filter for a temp replacement. basically you just need to get some gauze or screen over the open port to keep particles from getting in there. There is also a VSV on the back of the carb by the EGR modulator disk. It's hoses are in different positions, but it's the same electrical connector and it will function the same as the front VSV. On AC equipped models there's another similar VSV on the firewall. If the VSV is working then don't worry about replacing it due to a missing filter hat. I don't think you can find one sold aftermarket, but you could rig or build something pretty easily.
