Just got done rebuilding my transmission shift tower.New bushing and locator bolt. The threads for the locator bolt were stripped,so did the heli-coil thing.
My question is,.....do I need to lube the shift tower internals with grease,or oil,or does the transmission itself provide the lubrication.
Also, the foot of the shifter that goes to the shift forks, does it need lube?

I use white grease on the left and right tension springs. When rebuilding the towers, I usually find the springs coated in surface rust from moisture accumulation. The white grease will keep the moisture from eating the steel.

Here is a link to a rebuild article if you need it.
