I bought a 96 Tracker 16 valve that had a bad crank key. I replaced the timing gear and repaired with Loctite. The oil pump housing was worn pretty bad and after reinstalling everything found that it was cracked and leaking oil bad. Installed new oil pump and reinstalled timing gear and it is hitting the new pump and locking the engine it seems that the crank flange is to short where the seal runs on it. Can anyone help me with this?

The pump is melling from O'Reilly it is the correct one for the 96 16 valve. I had noticed that the front of the old pump was worn down and thought that with the new pump there would be clearance problems. Has anyone ever seen the crank wear down or could it be that someone has tried to use an older block in it? Can anyone tell me how to identify the block year?
