Hello. I'm new to the forum world. My timing belt keeps walking forwards and I have no idea what's going on. Wondering if anyone can help me. It's a 1985 1.3 L seems like the bottom pully is closer to the engine then the top pully. Or maybe I have a bad tensioning pully?

A bad tensioner or idler, or a faulty belt are the common causes. Check all the bolts are tight holding the pulleys on, and that they are seated correctly.

When was the belt last changed? a couple of broken strands internally can alter the tension on the belt making it "walk"

How far does it move? right off the pulleys or just to one edge then stop?

As I recall it, on the crankshaft end the timing belt sits between a guide plate/washer and the accessory belt pulley, if either one is not fitted the belt is free to wander.
