My 2011 Kizashi had the Service Engine light come on the other day. The dealer said it was throwing a P050A code for cold idle performance. Upon further inspection, they found soot on the throttle blade and recommended a throttle body cleaning/fuel injector flush. A little over $300 later (yes, I know, I could have cleaned the throttle body myself), car is once again happy, for the time being.

Out of all the cars I have owned, I have never had a check engine light come on due to a dirty throttle body, especially on a car at 39K miles. My wife's SX4 has 60K miles and never had an issue such as this. First off, is the computer in the Kizashi that sensitive to alert on a dirty throttle body? Second, what can be done to prevent this in the future?
