Wondering because someone told me that their sammy needs a new t-case drain plug. Are they aluminum and prone to stripping? How about the t-case casing, aluminum and prone to stripping if an ape wrenches on it?

I have had my trans and Tcase drain and fill plugs in and out several times in the last few months between servicing, rebuilding and servicing again. I have not even used new washers (didn't have any that size) and have realized no leaks or issues whatsoever. YMMV.

The transfer case is aluminium, I believe the drain & fill plugs are also aluminum, but I've never checked - the most common cause of problems with the plugs is the use of a 3/8" square drive ratchet handle in the 10mm square recess - the 3/8" square is slightly undersized and has rounded corners causing it to slip, and strip the recess, not the threads - which is why the person only needs a plug and not the entire case.
