Would anybody know why there is a different pulley for the CVT and manual transmissions? And is it crucial to have the "slip" pulley or can I use the fixed pulley alternator that's used on the manual transmissions?

Thanks Darrell for the link and thanks LMP for the insight. It looks like it's just for fuel efficiency and does not effect the overall performance of the engine or transmission. The only thing it looks like it effects is my wallet! There's a $100 dollar difference between these two alternators. I'll post back with some results on the fixed pulley unit. Again, thanks.
