Hi All,

I own 2016 Suzuki Vitara LY RT-S automatic, bought second hand through a private seller recently, the car has got 74k on the clock, I've noticed the car hesitates occasionally shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, it doesn't do it all the time but it's quite frequent, it's just sometime when I accelerate the car doesn't shift to higher gear, it revs all the way to the redline and only shifts if I let go of the gas pedal slightly or I have to use the paddle shifter to change gear, I know this happens at second gear since when I press the paddle shifter I can see it shifting to 3rd gear, shift from 3rd gear onwards is smooth and everything else is smooth, don't think the tramissiom was serviced or if it needs to be since the manual doesn't mention any of such in the service recommendation, I've tried checking with obd2 transmission scanner and I cannot see any error codes or historical issue, there were few codes related to ABS (c1061, c1063) but nothing related to transmission. Took it to a local mechanic and he was unable to identify/replicate the problem, asked me to take it to a transmission specialists but before I do that I just wanted to get some second opinion, has anyone faced similar issue and what could be the potential problem or the fix, any help will be highly appreciated.

If you have a scanner capable of monitoring the solenoids, record them during shift issue.. note which may be hanging..

Elm327 dongle and sz viewer on an Android device will let you at least look at the trans ecm and see the solenoids operating in real time.
