Hi all I'm from the UK and looking for a little advice. I bought a sx4 over the weekend, it had keyless entry as the key column has the key almost built in and the doors have those little rubber buttons on. I only know this over researching it as they only had the master key. So I've rung around including the dealer and they want around £180-£200. My question is couldn't I buy a new proximity fob and code it myself to reduce the cost or is this a specialist ares only. Thanks!!

THe owner's manual gives detailed info about the way to code a new fob by yourself...but I think it applies to one bought from Suzuki. However, I've seen after market offers that tell their unit can be programmed easily......there has been a thread about this recently...well, 2 or 3 months ago....I remembem having posted a few scanned pages from my manual...I'll try to find that info..ahhh...here it is

but others will surely come with proper suggestions.

Hi thanks for your reply. This has certainly got me interested due to the high cost of what they have quoted. They have priced the keyless entry fob at £120 (without £75 coding charge). The dealer seemed to think I wouldn't be able to code a new one as I don't have one already? Is he correct or pulling the "wool" over my eyes.
