Grand Vitaras of that vintage have hydraulic lifters that can make a ticking noise on a cold start, that goes away after the engine warms - generally speaking it's an indication that the oil needed to "pump up" the lifters isn't reaching them, and there are several reasons why this might happen - starting with the wrong grade of oil, the wrong oil filter, it can also be a sign of neglected maintenance. The engines also have hydraulic tensioners for the timing chains and if those are starved of oil the chains can rattle, and that is a sign of serious trouble - have a listen and see if the noise is from the front of the engine or the top.

If you don't know what grade of oil is in there now, grab your owner's manual, there will be chart in it showing what grades of oil are suitable based on the temperature where you are, change the oil and make sure the filter you're using has an anti-drain back valve,

So first of all thank you for responding second I believe the sound is coming form the top and I do routine maintance cause it was going through one issue after another but before that I took it for a oil change from what im seeing on google it says it could be a bad lifter if so how hard is that to replace?

A "bad" lifter would be more likely to tap continuously whenever the engine was running - the engine has 24 lifters, and there is a considerable amount of "tear down" involved to get access to them, the cams have to be removed and that requires the timing chains to be removed so pretty much the entire front of the engine has to come off - somewhere in the vicinity of 12+ hours of labor.

You say you "took it for an oil change" were the correct filter & grade of oil used?

Hello I own a Suzuki Grand Vitara and quick question so my engine kinda ticks or clicks on cold starts but after warming up it stops should I be worried?
Suzuki published a technical service bulletin on timing chain noise. I'd pay very close attention to that. The H25a is an interference engine.

How many miles on your engine?

If your engine is making ticking or clicking noises only during cold starts but the sound goes away after the engine warms up, it's usually not a cause for alarm. This is because when the engine is cold, the oil in the engine is thicker and takes a while to circulate fully, which can result in some noises from the engine. I faced it several times myself but then fellow mechanic told me about this detail.
