My dad's 2006 or 2007 (I'm not sure the model year) Suzuki Escudo has abs light on and the speedometer not working. what could be the problem?

Malfunctioning ABS/Speed sensor, or wiring... You will need a scanner to check the sensors for drop outs..

If you have a PRO grade scanner, it should have PIDs for the wheel sensors, select them, and monitor in graph form and go for a ride

There was no need for a scanner because the damn thing "fixed itself" after a thorough car wash.
