The S/Start light on the dash is flashing on my Vitara. I have tried cancelling it but it will not stop flashing. The stop/start system is now un-oprable. Any ideas.

What year?
What conditions the battery in? Once they lose capacity they can disable the start stop system, given its winter over there it might be worth getting a load check done on the battery first to rule that out before diving into diagnostic processes
I think the battery is o.k but will get it checked out. The car drives fine just a bit annoying with the light flashing constantly. cheers.

Hi for future reference this happened yesterday on my 2015 Vitara. Pulled the relevant fuse (under dash #16) to check it. Put the fuse back, light no longer flashing. Guess I reset the circuit. I think it came on in the first place when I manually stopped and started the engine twice in succession whilst checking something else out.
Is it covered in the manual. There’s a fairly comprehensive section on warning lights and what they mean.

your battery is running out. it is functional but it is close to the end, actually when engine starts so there is a hell of amperes running through the voltage drops almost to 9-10V. when this is happening the battery is not ok and even the car is started normally the initial check that ECU does fails. Then the Auto S/s is disabled and the relevant lamp is flashing...
