Is there an easy fix for changing out the rear overload springs on a stock samurai? I haven't used mine on any rough trail yet but these overload springs look like a plow ready to happen. Thanks Don

Well, you can't just remove them or your springs will invert very quickly when taking them through their paces on the trail. You also cannot flip them upside down as you will have an unbearably stiff ride. I have tried both through the years and neither was very pretty...

I have experimented with many custom mixes of different manufacturers springs for different applications. The easiest has been adding in a leaf from a CJ front pack and found that it works well. Use a leaf from a lifted CJ pack and you will gain a little height also.

Remember that these rigs were first sold as utility vehicles... More WORK utility than SPORT utility. The original springs will survive taking 3-400 pounds of cargo/equipment through rugged terrain - easily. That is why the overloads are there.
