Discussion Starter #1
By depressing the clutch pedal to the floor with the motor running, the starter engages. I take it that I need to replace the starter switch. If that is the problem, where exactly is it the switch located?
Thanks in advance.

That is a symptom of a shorted circuit, starter control to a power wire...

That could be caused by a bad earth, I would check all the earths on the engine and the starter as well as the earth strap on the steering column. As a temporary 'fix' you could disconnect the clutch safety switch.

The circuit goes like this - battery to ignition switch to clutch safety switch to starter solenoid - I've left out a fuse or two, but you get the idea.

Notice I never mention a "starter switch" - there isn't one - you turn the ignition switch to the start position and that closes a set of contacts on the ignition switch to engage the starter.

You either have a short somewhere in the wiring, which is what Philip is suggesting, or a shorted ignition switch.
