my samurai speedometer reads below 0mph when idle, then as a accelerate it goes up at a normal rate, but the problem is its reading 15-20mph slower, so bassically once im going 20mph the speedometer starts to mark passed 0. im stumped, checked everything. i imagine there is a dial to calibrate this??? thanks for any advice

I remember reading something about either the transfer case or differential affecting speedometer readout while i was skimming the pages of a Jimny service manual.
It was describing a procedure the mechanic needs to do to test something and it carried a warning about very low readings when one tire spun and the other did not. Something like half the speed of the spinning tire. So one tire doing 0 and the other doing 40 mph = 20 mph on the speedo. Something like that.
Like I said, it just happened to catch my eye. (Out of almost 900 pages.)

Might want to check either of those two things being broken?
