Seeking advice! Just bought an old sierra and want to get it roadworthied. the current rims are roh trak 2 with 30/9.5/15 tyres. So they hit the leafsprings. What can i put on in the way of rims and tyres that will pass a roadworthy and not cost the earth?? I only plan to use the sierra on a flat dairy farm to get cows in etc and maybe short runs to shop...

Sounds like those rims have too much offset (to the inside). Three options:
1- Replace the rims
2- Get a set of wheel spacers/adaptors to push the wheel out away from the springs
3- Adjust the turning radius by adding a washer behind the bolts that hit (or are supposed to hit in your case) that would normally stop the wheel from turning keft or right. They are two of the bolts that hold the felt seal on the inside edge of the turning knuckle.

sierra rims

Billjohn, cheers for that. from what i have seen spacers are rather costly. what rims other than standard have the correct size/offset? was thinking i could just grab some from the wreckers or something, and spend the dollars on reasonable tyres rather! have heard f100 ones fit...do they come in different offsets though? any others that fit?

I noticed that wheel spacers in Australia are sky high in cost. I can't understand why. Buy Spidertrax, they're only $99 per pair. In Aussie, you buy them individually (not pairs) and they are much more expensive. Am I right? I think it is cheaper for you to buy them from the US and ship them overseas than buying them from there. You need to work on your suppliers to reduce cost.

For me, buying them from US and shipping them overseas to where I live is a lot cheaper than machining them locally.

The major problem with using other makes is that most of the time the center hole is too small. Look at the size of the front locking hub, and take some measurements with you to the wreckers. The wheel offset is measured from the rear face of the wheel to the plane of the edge of the rim. Take that measurement with you also.
