I am close to completing my head gasket replacement job and am trying to reinstall the serpentine belt.
I did the head in-place (did not drop the engine as the tech manual suggests) so am having to work in the tight space between the front of the engine and the wheel well.
I am sure that I have the routing correct (the tech manual is not much help) but seem to be several inches short of getting the belt back on even with the tensioner fully retracted.
Is it possible that my old belt could have shrunk in the 4 weeks that it has been out of the vehicle?
Any other suggestions would be most welcome.
