so today i rebuilt the carb on my 87 which is a stock carb and i drove it about 20 miles no problems...then i parked it for about an hour and when i started it back up a terrible screaming noise is coming somewhere from the carburetor area...its extremley loud and obnoxious...when i rev the engine to about 3000 rmps it stops but anything lower screams im thinking vaccum leaks but am not sure... its none of the lines so does anybody have any ideas to give me a head start?

screaming carb

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

Instead of checking all your hoses, I'd get a can of starting fluid and spray in the vicinity of any seals on the carburetor itself while the engine is idling. Don't forget the base mount.

When the engine rpms jump as you spray, you found the leak.

Just in case you might have a vacuum line improperly routed, try this link:

I hope that this helps!
