I was wondering if any of yall' have installed power window in your sami. If so I would like to know what units you used. Also what vehicles can you salvage window felts and scrapes out of that will work better than the stock jobs. I have searched the internet but haven't had much luck. Thanks in advance for any advice or ideas.

Re powerWindows

I just bought a universeal Kit for my Sami but it didn't work. It was too large. The retailer sugested going to a car stereo place. U know those places that do tint, rims, neon, stereos and all other custom "tricked out" things. I haven't gone yet but u might give it a shot. If u find one please post the kit.
Thanks

it would be hard to do a universal kit since the samurai doors have about as much room inside them as a matchbox.

You can just take off the handle and screw a small winch motor to the crank. :p

why would you need power windows on a vehicle that's only like 5 feet from door to door?

The power windows really are not that big a deal to me I was just brain storming, I guess you could take off the handle and hood up a cordless drill :D. I am just having a hard time fixing the rattle and when I roll up the passenger side the glass dosn't line up with the window runners

If it's not lining up with the tracks you probably don't have the track liner and window guides in place. There's a big gap in the window runners and if the insulation isn't in place the glass will rattle around in the channel when it's down or partially up. There are also spring steel clips, window guides that sit in the channel and have a plastic bit on the end that keeps the window pressed into place so it runs true when rolling it up and down.

Thanks for that info. I'll check on that when I get a chance, I need to pull the door panels anyhow to fix some broken handles. This is completly off subject but, my samurai sputters at low rpm but once reved up it runs ok. I've checked vac hoses and they all look ok. It is a new motor with about 3500 miles on it and it started all the sudden. Sometimes I think it might sound llike there is back pressure on the exaust. Any ideas on this. Thanks

usually backpressure will be more noticeable at high rpm as there is a lot more volume passing through the exhaust, and any adverse affects from blockage will be amplified.

Check to make sure there aren't any vacuum leaks around the carb or the intake manifold with a can of carb cleaner. Spray around the base and the mating surfaces and if you notice a slight drop in RPM or hesitation then you have a vacuum leak. A lot of times on a new engine mating surfaces and gaskets will settle and you need to retorque the bolts.

On the window rattle, see the topic being discussed,

it was resolved nicely.
