Hi guys, i have a 1985 Suzuki samurai and its been left for a year without running but has been started up every now and again, put it back on the road a couple of weeks ago and i have dead spots when driving (put your foot down and nothing happens or cuts out) i have timed it and done the plugs and rotor arm, not cleaned out the carb or changed the head gasket so any ideas.

Quick response would be Hugely appreciated
thanks guys Rhys ;)

Bad gas would be my first guess. Then the filter.
Or if your still running the stock carb, it may be time for an upgrade.

I had this same problem with an ASIN carb (the standard carb for the 1.3's). I found that restricting the air intake let me limp home, but it was only cured by swapping the carb for an SU carb.

The standard carbs are well known for these problems.

Boxcar speaks wisdom, young Jedi. Heed his words, fit a better carb. You won't regret it.
