Another new guy. Name's Dave on the Oregon coast. Picked up my '86 sammie a few years ago and been driving it ever since. Basically stock except for some Con-fer shackles that let me run 235's and a posi rear end. Don't know how the rear's locked neither did the guy I got it from but it's kinda nice. Stripped the interior last year and sprayed in some bedliner and got rid of the baby blue paint for some off white/beige. Crappy paint job but it looks ok. Also built an aluminum safari rack last year that turned out pretty nice(I think). If I can figure out how to I'll post some pics. Wanting to do a spring over and go a little larger on the tires but with the power I'm dealing with right now it would be pointless. Which brings me to my first question. I've got a weber off my old Land Cruiser and got the adapter plates yesterday but am intimidated by all the vaccum lines. The weber kit say's it comes with complete instructions. ANYBODY STILL GOT 'EM?, and if so would you be willing to email or send me a copy. I know, another guy needing help. Just found the forum recently and sound's like there's some smart f%&#[email protected] on here. I'm not necessarily one of them but I'll help any way I can. Thanks and hope to meet some of you in the future.

If you have a Zook Posi out back then take good care of it - it is a rare piece. It replaces the carrier in the diff and acts as a locker when you tap the brakes or nudge the e-brake while climbing through an obstacle. Nobody has had them in stock for years...

I don't have the instructions anymore (sorry), but basically you cap the vacuum lines. Here is another weber article on setting one up in a Sami, hope it helps a bit.

Thanks for the comeback Billjohn. I'll check out the link you gave me. My rear end is full time posi. I've never had it apart but it clicks around corners and sometimes seems to jump a tooth or something if I'm taking off quick in a turn. A little while later it will jump back. Been like that since I got it. Probably oughta investigate and see if there isn't something I can do about it. Thanks again. Later Dave

Actually, what you are describing is a Lock Right or Detroit EZ Locker.


The Suzuki unit is actually a Limited Slip (posi) and would be smooth and quiet.


As long as you have the locker installed, you will not get rid of the 'popping' in the corners. It is just another quirk. But it is well worth it when trying to run a boulder field or scaling a waterfall.

I still have the instructions. If, you don't find what you need online, let me know. The kit I bought came with instructions for both the 32/36 and the 38 DGAS. Let me know which one you need. PM me with your email and I'll scan them in and send you a copy. There really isn't much info on the vacuum lines. The only ones I kept were for the vacuum advance and the evap canister. I blocked off my EGR when I put the Weber on, since it was leaking vacuum anyway. If you have the Weber throttle cable adapter, it'll make it a lot eaiser than making one of your own.
