Roof Rack Rail End Cap

Lost my left side end cap of the roof rack rails. Found a replacement on eBay and wondering about compatibility. Mine is a 2 door 2014 model. The eBay item says ok for the 4 door model. Are they compatible?

Go to megazip.net (or a similar site with parts catalogs) and look up the part numbers - if they are the same then it will fit, if they are different, then it MAY not fit.
Thanks, but that gave no better info. On Megazip the part number is compatible with JB424 sold in Africa, Canada and US with no mention of 5 or 3 door models. But with no mention I guess that implies they're the same.
For JB420 its sold as one piece. For JB424 there are seperate parts (end caps+rail). Ordered for mine which the JB424 end cap and its the same. Mine is a JB420. There’s a one available on Aliexpress..
Thanks for the info and AliExpress link. I already ordered it from eBay, possibly from the same company. Price and delivery times are similar.

They're not the same. The five door and three door roof rail end caps are completely different. It cost me about $35 to discover that. I wish I knew the specialist skill of looking up part number codes.

Not hard to do. I went to ssg asia and after making sure that I had the correct model I download every ipb page with pictures of the diagrams and every page of part numbers. I have two pages left to do. It took a long time and even with it there are a few anomalies but enough to help. In my case a very good page showing all the roof rail parts. If you want to compare two models for similar parts then unfortunately you need to download both although I guess only relevant pages since you probably don't need the entire other vehicle. If some parts have been substituted it might be a hunt to find the later parts but at least you have a start. If you get the right model it even tells you LHD v RHD but once again if you want possible parts substitution then you also need to know enough to find the opposite model.
If you follow several threads on here you will know that ebay, alibaba etc often have no idea what they are doing or selling so there is a lot of confusion as to what fits what. Actually this is almost a universal failing for commercial sellers on those channels and it is so bad I can only assume that ebay etc sellers have risen well past their actual level of competence.

My VIN Number gives this result for the model - Grand Vitara JB424X-7 (E02,E22,E24,E90)
Clicking that link takes me to this page. What's next to find roof rail components?

LHS where it says Body I clicked on the blue arrow and got a whole heap of pages. Picking page 196A described as Garnish (RHD) shows the roof rack stuff and clicking on the little square things takes you to the part numbers. 78225-65J10-5PK Black, 4 in stock, USD 7.33 excl freight for the front right one.
Is this what you were after ?
Thanks so much for your tutorial. I'll bookmark the page for anything in the future. I only looked at the big lists.

It's the left rear cap, part #23 on the diagram - 78226-64J10-5PK. near us$20. Would you like to double check my stumbling look up before I order it.

Thanks
Gary
That does appear to be correct for the left rear one.
Thanks for your help.

If anyone needs a 5 door, left side roof rail rear cap, I have an unwanted spare I can post to you.
When I was hunting for the location of the same piece I used mine as an example and then realized that the overall picture of your location was a 3 door whereas mine is a 5 door. So your bit probably fits mine but I don't need one. When I fitted my roof rack I did decide that the end cap bits were a bit fiddly and probably prone to easily breaking so deliberately avoid mucking around with them
Mine came off when someone helped me load my kayak on the Thule hullavator. Instead of lifting the kayak to shift it back a bit, they just pushed it backwards on the cradle, shoving the hullavator foot off the rail and loosened the end cap. I didn't know the whole damage until later after the drive when the cap wasn't there any more - blew off during driving.

Hope you already have the Rubber pad underneath it. that was PITA part to source :( Wasn't able to locate any part number for that Rubber pad.. unless you ordered the whole damn thing..
I wonder what will finally arrive. I'm starting to appreciate that innovative idea of being able to purchase 3D files of spare parts for local 3D printing.

Yeah that's a good solution for hard to find plastic parts. saw somewhere in Russian forum that they've 3D printed rear parcel tray plastic knobs with some tough material. can vouch for the material quality because I've ordered and fixed door stopper plastics from Russian sourced eBay seller.
Every home should have one. Imagine - "The baby figured how to remove the gas knob off the stove and swallowed it." "Never mind dear, I'll download it and print one tonight in time for cooking breakfast tomorrow".
