Hi - apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I have a 2006 gv, have lost one if the keys. The local dealership can get a replacement key, however they say it will cost a fair amount of money. Can I get a locksmith to cut me a replacement key or would I need to have a genuine part?

Hope this makes sense and thanks for your help

Depends on the type of key.

If it just a plain key, then any Suzuki style blank will work. If your GV is fitted with the Immobilizer then you are going to need the key that has the transponder imbedded in the head. Or if you have the Keyless Start system you will need its corresponding key fob.

The only reliable source for either the transponder key or the keyless fob is probably the dealer, and it will need to be re-programed by the dealer. Lots of forum members have tried to re-program the key fob by themselves and failed.

My replacement fob/key cost £170 about four years ago. Took Suzuki 4 attempts to programme it. Everytime they tried it wouldn't work and kept blaming faulty keys. 50 mile around trip every visit !
