I want to get rid of the under bonnet jack holder, plus the 4 flanges that hold the bumper corners. Never done any bodywork in my life, but this seems like a pretty easy place to start.

What basic tools do I need for this and how should I go about it? Apart from a heap of hand tools, a drill is the only power tool I have. I had a grinder but it vanished around 6 months ago somehow. I'll buy a new one if needed.

My plan would be to trim the excess off with a grinder, and then get a grind stone to drill out the point welds, and hope the flanges fall off.... but that might not necessarily happen.

What's the easiest and smartest way to go about this?

thats pretty much all you do. Get an angle grinder. Grinding wheels will only get you so far though. Make sure to get a cutoff wheel for it and you can cut through pretty much any framework or body work that you need to.
