I've done some looking on here but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Has anyone here replaced the rear main seal on the stock 1.3? Mine is leaking badly, and I'm trying to figure out what all is involved. I've read through the service manual, but it is showing to do it with the engine out and disassembled. Can this be done in the vehicle? Maybe by removing the transmission? Anyone have any experience with this problem?
Thanks!

Yes it can. Remove the tranny and flywheel. Lower the rear of the oil pan. You may need to loosen all the pan bolts to do this. Two bolts at the rear of the pan run up in the rear seal housing. Remove the rest of bolts holding the housing to the back of the block and slide off end of crank. Besure not to damage the new seal as you slide it back on and replace all bolts. Apply a little white grease on the seal lip before installing helps. You might apply a little RTV to the pan gasket as best you can to help reseal it.
