So my wife's grandfather has a 1986 samurai, soft top, with roughly 1,500 miles on it. Yes that is 1,500 miles. Again no typo, 1500 and some change miles. All original (to include the oil in the crank case)

I have a couple questions, first of course, anyone have an idea of what its worth? still looks like its sitting on the showroom floor.

Also, it hasnt been turned on in at least 10 years, so I cringe to think of the seals and everything in the motor that has undoubtedly seized and dried out. Any ideas what it would take to start it up?

86 Suzuki with 1500 on clock

Some questions:
Has it been stored in a relatively stable environment ?
Have you tried grabbing the fan belt to turn it over ?
Before you put a battery in it to turn it over, take the
plugs out and carefully add WD40 or some other
simular "weasle snot" into each hole. Best if all the
pistons are half way up/down. Let the vehicle sit for
a week or as long as you can stand it. Dip each hole
with a soft wood stick to see how much of the fluid
has drained past the rings. With plugs out and a cloth
draped over the engine to catch the fluids, turn the
engine over with a good battery or strong hands pulling
on the fan belt to turn the crankshaft over several
times. This will clear the residue of fluid out of the holes
be sure it is all out so you don't hydraulic the engine.
Start the engine and let it run just a few revs, don't
be tempted to rev it to the limiter.
Drain the crankcase oil and add new oil and filter.
Be sure there is appropriate coolant in the rad or drain it
all out and add new.
Start the engine and allow it to idle until warm or gauge
normal.
Check the brake fluid and all other fluids (tranny,T/C,
diffs) carefully drive on the street a short distance.
Check all the fluids again and especially check for any
brake fluid leaks on the lines or in the wheel cylinders
and calipers.
Drive it a very short way trying out all the gears and
fans and all. Find a gravel road or lane and shift into
4wd. DO NOT attempt this on pavement. Try going
through all the gears and Hi/Lo range in the T/C.
If there are no obvious knocks or grinds or wheel drags
you should be ready to try it off road.
It will serve you well if you treat it right.

Well, if its an 86 it's a Sj-410 . Nice find . What country will help figuring a price .

Really? we had SJ413s from 1983, my SJ413K pickup is an 86. From what I understand all the US 413s were badged as a Samurai, over here only the wide-axle models got that name.
If it was in showroom condition then in the UK it would possibly be worth £5000, there are very few SJs that aren't rust buckets.

Sorry ill post some pics of it next time im at my inlaws. Its stored in a "barn" (more of a shop, concrete floor, protected from the elements stored under a large cloth tarp.

When I say flawless I mean its flawless, looks like noone even sat in it. I doubt my wifes grandfather will let me drive it, hes kind of an automotive hoarder. He also has a 1984 f350 with 1200 miles, a 94 firebird with 1800, a 94 chevy 1500 with like 2300, and a harley davidson edition f150 with 1100 miles. He thinks they are all too valuable to drive or touch.

But as he gets older I think hes starting to realize he needs to do something with them. One day I will drive that sammy tho :)
