Hey guys. I love my Samurai. Love taking the top off or unzipping the windows and cruising around town during the summer. Problem my son is in a child seat so he can't enjoy it with me. I have the oem rear seat installed but I want to be able to install his car seat as well. When he's forward facing I'll need the lap belt which I have but doesn't lock so I'll need to install LATCH anchor points and then the tether that goes over the back of the seat. Has anybody installed something like this or something like this? Any ideas would be helpful.

I've looked at the oem rear lap belt and the locking mechanism is a very small piece of plastic that doesn't lock when pulled all the way out like they do in newer cars. Maybe find an aftermarket belt?

The original belt had a sliding bar in the head of the belt made of steel. If its in working order you advance the belt to length and once its in position it stays put...there is a dinky piece of plastic on the end to keep the belt neat.

Post a pic of the belt and i should be able to tell you if its oem or not.
