I must replace the rear wheel bearings on my 1988 Samurai.
What parts do I need beside the wheel bearings and are the bearings the type that slide out or are they pressed in?

You need the new bearings and retainer rings. they should come together in a set. Rear wheel bearings are pressed on to the axle shafts. Once you pull the shafts you will need to use a press to remove and replace the retainer rings. Removal can be done by cutting off the bearing and ring with a cutoff saw, but be very careful not to nick the shaft. Cut 3/4 through and use a hammer and chisel to 'pop' the last quarter apart. You will still need a press to reassemble.

It is worth doing the seals at the same time. Get a seal driver or go to your local muffler shop and get a matching size piece of scrap pipe and make your own for free.
