New to Zuki's just got a 92' Sami JL 1.3 No start No spark No power to coil. Got chiltons out but doesnt say how to test the Igniter with 4 tabs. It does say how to test the 2 and 3 prong igniter but not the 4... It doesnt really describe how it works either other than the ECU controls it to switch the coil on and off. Also is there another fuse other than the 15 A fuse in the fuse box under the steering wheel? In Chiltons it says there are a total of 3 fuses that guard the system. Are there any common problems with sami's like maybe water in the ECU, pickup sensors bad? Any Help MUCH appreciated....

Thanks in advance.

Check the large white wire coming off the positive battery terminal. It is a fusable link that is known to blow easily.

I have had problems with both components in the past in my 92, so I understand what you are in for. You can do a visual check of the board in the ECU to see if there are any blown caps or acid damage, but the best troubleshooting step I have found was to just swap out known good parts until it worked. The biggest pain was finding a good ignitor without paying for the vehicle all over again...

My expertise pretty much ends with the 95 (last year for the Sammy in the US), so you may have to look for NOS (New/Old Stock). One place that was a great help to me for the ECU is Petroworks. Gary (the owner) would repair and test them to resell to his customers. If you can't find anything local, go to PetroWorks and see what he can do for you.
