I have newspaper stuffed in every inch of my 1987 tintop.

Any idea why someone would have stuffed it full other than for maybe sound deadening or insulation ?? Do you think it really helped any ??

I am tearing it out when I come across it and haven't noticed any difference yet.
I have found it in the rear door, behind the rear side covers, around the fuel filler, in the rocker panels, behind the front speakers.... still looking for more...

They are 1988 newspapers
Maybe it was a "dealer installed option"

Thanks !

Lucky that you're in California, elsewhere condensation would have soaked into the paper and rusted everywhere.

Ever notice how "tinny" (no pun intended) the sheet metal is on these things? Slam a door or hood and hear what you hear. Sounds like a Latin band. Maybe someone was trying to fool themself by attempting to make it sound more solid that it is.

Never bothered me any, but I have heard other owners complain about this specific thing...
