I have a 1996 Sidekick with the 1.8l engine and I need a little help. The coolant return hose from the heater core runs into a metal tube which in turn goes around the engine block and into the water pump area. This metal tube has a leak and as I am looking at it I am unsure of how to remove this tube from the water pump. Is there anyone out there who has done this or knows how to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated.

I changed the water pump on my 2.3, which is the same engine family, while it was on the engine stand. The tube is held in by pressure with nothing more than an o-ring. You may have to remove the water pump, or release it from the opposite side to get pressure off it. In my case I was removing the pump and it came right off. Since it is not bolted on anywhere on the pump, I always thought it would be a good place to leak, but it never has.
