Hello peeps! Has anyone ever had to change the negative battery cable? The one on my 2000 Esteem burned out (was extremely hot) and I'm not sure of the right type of aftermarket cable to use for the 2 grounds that it has. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

which cable? theres many on that model.
Asking the obvious question, why did it burn out? fault somewhere? or a loose connection?
Replace it with the same size or bigger cable, never a smaller one unless you want to turn it into a fuse that will blow.

I would be inclined to add an additional ground strap or two for good measure.
One from the frame to the engine.

its a battery terminal with a bit of wire and a lug on the end to bolt to the engine. Anything will do as long as its long enough and big enough to carry the current. Any decent auto parts shop should have them.
