Hey guys. I bought this samurai a while back. I got it running great again thanks to myron's my-side. This samurai leans a little bit to the passenger side. After looking at my shackles and leafsprings, it looks like I have a weak leafspring in the front passenger side, and the bushings are out of my rear passenger side shackle.

I am not sure what kind of lift I have. I am not sure if the guy put the yj conversion kit, or what. But I do not know what kind of leafsprings i need to get, and I do not know where I can get the bushings for my shackle at.

It has edelbrock shocks. IDK what they are off of. See this picture attatched, maybe someone can tell me what kind of shackles/leafs I have.

looks like missing links up front

don't know if you have stock or aftermarket springs though.

the samurai springs are 2" wide and are 3 inches difference between the front (36 inches) and rear (39 inches).

The YJ springs are 2.5" wide and the same length front and rear (45 inches). 9 inches longer than the samurai front springs and 6 inches longer than the rear springs

when measuring spring length you need to measure from one eye, all the way down around the curved leaf to the other eye. You will need a flexible tape measure or a length of string to do this. This will give you the flat measurement. (measurement taken from a flattened spring eye to eye)

Thanks! they are 2 inches wide...i didnt measure the length..but out of those 2 options i have samurai springs right?

Here is a pic of my shackle up close...Where can I get bushings for it? the one in the rear is shot...

Front shackle is being pushed forward towards the bumper from the weak spring..and the spring is a little tweaked

Rear Shakle is slanting on the right side of it if looking at it, due to the bushing being shot.. depending on how much bushings are, I might go ahead and buy all new bushings all around...or shackles..

those are drop shackles.. don't know if they're "Missing Link" or if they're some other brand but the principal is the same. They allow you to run a longer spring without extending the frame. they also allow for more droop when the spring is unloaded.

If you have them up front and the shackle is up and extended like that I'm guessing that you have longer springs up front than stock. Most likely since it's a 2 inch wide spring they did a RUF suspension lift. (Rear springs up front)
It gives the samurai a softer ride with the longer springs. Not as soft as a YJ conversion, but its better than stock. With 2 inch wide leafs you can just get bushings for the stock spring eyes. Either rubber or PolyUrethane. Those fittings on the shackles are for lubing the shackle so it doesn't squeak or bind. Make sure you use a grease that doesn't eat the type of rubber that you use for your bushings.

Is the bushing on the center hinge shot as well? I don't own drop shackles so I don't know for sure, but I think the center hinge uses the same bushing as the spring eye. If it IS worn out you should contact the manufacturer to see if you can order a set of bushings for them since the pre-packaged bushing sets don't have the extra center hinge bushings. I know sky manufacturing makes a drop shackle and so does trail tough. Here's the TT link for the bushing sets.

Only the passenger side up front is extended, thats because the spring is weak (what it looks like to me) the driver side front shackle is not pushing out any...thats how i noticed the one on the passenger side. do I need to measure the length of them so you can tell me what i need. the passenger side front leaf spring is going to have to be replaced...as far as my shackles..will those bushings work? idk what i need. im 19, don't know too much about this stuff..I learn as i go. how do i find out what brand they are?

If it's pushing the shackle that far forward then yes it needs to be replaced. If The spring is sitting flat already it should be really easy to take a measurement from the center of one eye to the other.

Whichever spring you get (front or back) get 2 of them and change both sides. Changing just one side will get you the same results you have now.

Send a picture to Trail Tough and ask them if they can identify the shackle and if they can sell you replacement bushings. They have really good customer service and I'm sure they'll help you out.
