But I can forgive it- they're the stock shocks and I was planning on upgrading the suspension anyway. Guess it's time to do so. I think I'm going to go with the Old Man Emu (OME) kit. It's simple and it's all I need.

I can get it from Petroworks with Gabriel shocks or from Trail Tough with Doetsch Tech 8000 Prerunner shocks. Reading here, it looks like the Doetsch 8000 may be too stiff. However, the Trail Tough kit comes with a drop Pittman and the Petroworks does not. Being new to the Samurai game (but learning fast, by fire! :D ), I don't have experience with either company.

So... which kit to get?

They're both great companies, cool guys working there and they have awesome customer support.

The 8000 shock is valved for people with really heavy rigs and who drive hard. I'd recommend getting the kit with the correct shocks and then purchasing a drop pitman arm seperately if it doesnt come in the kit you want. Or you can forgo the drop arm and get a high steer kit.

Not me. I drive very soft and I carry nothing. No heavy bumpers, no winches, nothing. Just two front seats.

I like that plan. I'll give Petroworks a call tomorrow and visit with them.

EDIT: Called 'em and now there's an OME kit on the way. Quick way to blow $650.
