I have a 1988.5 Samurai 1.3 and the fuel pump is leaking out of the vent. I am going to change it myself. are there any tricks i should know before i start ? I am not a true mechanic but very handy i dont think i will have any problems but you never know.

-Label the fuel lines so that you can make sure they go back where they belong.
-Don't lose the cam rod that contacts the pump lever.
-Use some grease on the cam rod before bolting on the pump.
-Change your oil and filter after swapping out the fuel pump.

Welcome.

recently did it myself... VERY easy to do. just keep a rag handy to wipe oil and fuel off ur hands and wherever else its spilled. only real trick is open the fuel tank cap, then close it again before doing it to relieve any pressure (or at least thats what i did)... do the oil and filter at the same time... but i would be looking at doing the oil and filter again within a week or two as well. ive done 4 oil changes and 2 oil filter changes since, and only now is the fuel smell in the oil dying down. still there, but way less...
