So considering the fuel price of E10 is cheap in Australia where I am, I am considering buying an old worn out M15A engine and rebuild it to suit Ethanol type fuels as a home project.

Has this been done before? Is this possible? Or can these engines already handle E10?

they aren't designed to run on E10, some might handle it, the majority won't as the fuel mapping won't alter the mixture far enough to prevent knocking or "pinking" especially the older ones pre 2010
