You'd better be prepared to look for a while - hard to find in our neck of the woods - all the Sierra's and Vitara's have been pillaged for parts, and complete EFI motors are extremely tough to source. Suzistore.com.au is the best thing I can find in Aus, but it's in WA! No specialist zook shops to be found in Brisbane or SE QLD anyways.

From what I remember they (at Suzistore) charged around $3500 for a carby 8v 1.6L conversion... add 16v and EFI and I think you'll be spending at least $6000 for a reco motor and certified install... I read on another forum some guy spent $8500 on this exact motor install - that's way out of my league, and way beyond my sanity.

wow that's crazy expensive! The 1.6L 16v EFI engine is a tough swap to do. Not only do you need the complete engine with intake and exhaust, You need the complete wiring harness from the donor vehicle and the ECU. Then it has to be reconfigured and altered to work with your SJ.

The 8 valve is something that is much more reasonable and you only need the engine and an adapter plate for the transmission bell, a fuel pump and a starter. The intake manifold on the 1.3L works with the 8 valve 1.6 and so does the exhaust manifold. Just plug in an aftermarket Carb and you're set. It's very inexpensive and hassle free. A driveway mechanic can easily do the swap using a rented cherry picker.
