I finally had my Suzuki Carry van F5, 550cc 5 speed change to a F6, 660cc 12 valve, 4 speed manual(carburator type) and I love the performance of the 12 valve.;) To bad a 4 speed transmission was not available and no turbo or EFI either. I already change my tires to 175/65, R13 a little offset so when it rains the side of my van gets dirty as soon it hits the wet road but I find my tire specs stable on cross wind and when huge bus or trucks pass by. I also install racing air filters and I am planning to test drive for road worthy and performance. Just want to inquire on the following questions:

1. Is the Suzuki carry van can survive a long distance trips and in
hill climbing especially if your going to encounter several steep
ones?
2. For those with F6 engine carry van, what is your top speed?

3. How about comfort? Does the heat bothers you on long trips especially if
your engine is located underneath the driver's seat.

Anymore advise is very much welcome :)

Thanks!

1. My pickup's ok with steep climbs and long drives.
2. f6a 4 speed tranny-120km/h
3. Not really. took my truck all over batangas in the middle of summer and the heat was not a problem.

makakarelate ako sayo dyan, i'm using a 185/60 R13 both front and rear. kahit madaling marumihan, mas-gusto ko ung porma nya kung malapad ang gulong. I'm even planning to replace it w/ a nankang sportspec? 205/60 R13 tires... need to start saving tho.

Hey guys,

Last Sunday (Aug 13) I have to take my Dad to Ayala Alabang.(Yun na ang pinakamalayo narating ng van ko) Coming from San Mateo with a little above 1/4 of fuel I was able to reach my destination. (Naligaw pa nga). Sa SLEX my average speed is 80kph but I was able to reach 100kph. (umuulan at 4 speed lang ang van) But I have to revert back to 80kph kasi maingay na at hindi na kami magkakarinigan ng dad ko. My dad commented that I have a good engine and when it travels at 60 kph tahimik and malakas humatak kahit 80kph tolerable pa rin.

I had my gas filled at at Petron for P500 at Alabang and went back to San Mateo, then went home sa Sampaloc. Sabi ng dad ko nun, parang hindi bumaba ang gas needle mo ah?

Tipid naman sya and I was satisfied with its performance for a 660 cc, 3 cyclinder 12 valve engine.

blue, what brand imo 185/60R13 and pls more info on Nankang 205/60, where in cebu is it available?

About steep climbs, let me just say that there's a steep road here which my brother's spanking new Mazda 3 can only climb in 2nd gear which my humble Zukzuk (the name of my blue scrum van) can easily climb in 3rd gear from foot of the hill to top. :p

hi bro, sa aking experience with our family van, the van is very good on long trips, basta't your radiator is in good shape. as you could see the van survived many ordeals sa manila and to baguio (that was 1990!!) well, nahihirapan ang van lalo na pagka fully loaded then you have to go the way up. ginawa ng dad ko he shifted rapidly gears and we ran uphill fast...that's the problem right now with the APV. maganda ang takbo nya on flat roads pero pag akyat mo... (to quote).."bring a rosary, just in case...". that time the van could run up to 3-4th gear, ngayon naging 2, siguro dahil sa kahinaan na ng engine.

top speed for the van in both crosswinds and tailwinds is 100-120 kph, pero sa'min i did no go further than 80 kph, kasi pagdating na ng 100 kumakalog-kalog na yung van. :D hope this info could help :D

malalakas talaga ang mga suzuki mini-trucks. dapat sila ang binigyan ng "zoom-zoom-zoom" at hindi ang mazda na "broom..." sana kuya blue pick-up sana yung stat ng van namin para malapad ang mga tires...our van has 165/70 or /80 ata eh, kaso pag dumaan sa bumps medyo sumasayad na nga yung sa harap eh...

Mr. J-Six, try using lower profile tires. I use 175/50R13 tires and I have no rubbing problems even though my truck's been lowered 2 inches.
sir caloy, i guess that's the size of the tires currently in our van. possible kasing sa tagal na ng panahon na di na kasingtigas yung springs/shock dun sa harap kaya sumasayad yung harap pag tumatalon sa humps ...

jsix, sumasayad naba ang harapan ng van nyo, baka coil spring, shock absorbers, mahina na o kaya stabilizer boshing.

siguro, kasi ang tagal nang di napapalitan eh. ok pa naman ito kaso when it hits the bumps habang fully loaded tapos mabilis eh sasayad talaga. hopefully could find a aftermarket top-of-the-line springs for the front like h & r springs...

Hi everyone,
Please provide info in the above thread on tire sizes you use and top speed in english. My every 660 turbo five speed came with 145/80 R12 and my top speed is 120 pushing it, 110 uncomfortable and 100 kmh with ease. I want to put on larger tires to get more top speed. ANy suggestions?

putting bigger rims, i.e., size 15 and above is definitely not recommended. try using 175/50, r13 wheels and size 13" rims. lucky you didn't turned turtle with that speed!
