I have an '88 Samurai that sees no road time (unless it's our dirt road, but never more than 20-25 mph). I am thinking of leaving my hubs locked all the time since I never do any road driving but am wondering if this could cause me any potential problems. I'm not worried about gas mileage and would think the front axle components should be as strong/durable as the rear. Any advice/opinions would be welcomed.
Thanks!
Jeff

You can do it without any problems - in fact not all Samis had free wheel hubs from the factory.

Its actually a good idea to run them locked for at least 30 miles per month to keep all the diff parts lubricated, as long as the transfer case is in 2wd, you can even drive on pavement. Won't do it any harm except to the gas mileage.

Thanks for the replies! Then it's settled, I will probably just keep my hubs locked until further notice.
