I only see these listed for Gen-1 Trackers thru 1998. I have a MY 04, am I SOL on these? Any options? Thanks

I believe you are - I know it's been attempted, but every thing I've seen so far has resulted in a failure - the ARB air locker can be made to work in the rear, but requires modification to the ring gear by a competent machine shop.
Check rockyroadoutfitters.com-they show an ARB and also the lock right that I have heard from people who used them that they work fine. Part # 1532 I'm planning to get one for my '01
Don't forget to update us after you've installed it.
I will most certainly do that AFTER the Christmas bills are paid 😁
Where is the update? Or am I Welding this rear diff? I did have some one on Facebook tell me they bolted in Powertrax 1512-LR into their second gen and apparently it worked just fine. BBBUUUTTTT IDK.
Well, as my paycheck keeps going down and living keeps going up, I've had to postpone it till spring. That said, I believe the kit looks like it could work, but again, as a lifelong mechanic, I see some things that are a little questionable, such as the fact that the locking/unlocking action appears to revolve around the spring/pin setup and they even tell you that they are a wear item. I will post if/when I do mine and get some miles on it. FYI-years of racing, I have never been a big fan of welding the spiders!

Hmmm, Strange quick change diff in a 2G vitara? Now there's a concept
Drive it out to the trails, change diff ratio to super low climb anything......
Wow, that has all kinds of cool wrapped around it! But I guaranty that's a LITTLE more $$ than a lockrite :)

The cool factor would certainly be there. Single nut wheel retainer, fully customised rear suspension with everything adjustable, ok, ok, im getting carried away
As far as I'm aware most (if not all) Sidekick rear differentials bolt right into a 99-05 Vitara/Tracker, so you should be able to slide a first generation differential fitted with whatever locker you choose right into a second gen vehicle. Just make sure you buy the right locker/differential combination as some diffs have 10 bolt ring gears while others have 12 bolt. I have a 12 bolt 5.12 rear diff out of a first generation vehicle fitted with an ARB #RD209 installed in my 2003 Tracker. My recommendation is to call Trail Tough and chat with them before making any purchases, as they helped guide me through the process of setting up a rear locker.

I have an ARB up front too by using a first-generation front differential, but explaining how I came to do that probably deserves a thread of its own.

So has anyone personally installed one directly into a factory 2nd Gen rear dif. Not a 1st Gen dif swapped into 2nd gen. But a locker in a 2nd gen housing and everything.

What are you asking about - a lockright, an air locker, or any locker? See post #2 above ...

I currently have a rear third from a second gen in pieces on a shelf in my garage and can tell you that an ARB air locker will NOT fit without either machining the ring gear or swapping in a third from a first gen. I haven't found anyone that I can trust to modify the ring gear so I haven't purchased the air locker.

ANY Locker. Would love to find out if anything is plug and play for them. This is our little farm SXS so i don't want to weld it and have it chewing up pasture and yard when making tight turns. But want to have the rear lock up when i need it to. SO, ANY locker would do.
