Hi All you fellow Suzuki- owners.
I recently bought a Jimny on a 2000 plate.
about a month ago, But Its now playing up badly- 1st problem was/is its misfiring very badly at lower revs, And then gets very very hot- off the scale on the gauge, and also as it misfiring there's plumes of white smoke coming from it.
When the revs are high it seems ok, but the overheating is worrying and the vast amount of smoke from the exhaust.
I found no 4 spark plug lead was dodgy- But i have replaced it and its still same.
Its had a new head fitted as the gasket went a few months before i bought the thing.
Any advise is much appreciated
Cheers all

Do you know if the motor got hot when they changed the head gasket last time? It sounds like it is the gasket again. If it got too hot it might have warped the head some.

No sorry dont know
I wasnt the owner of the jimny then,
But i know its got a new head on it, i had a good look today/yesterday and the head is prob a refurbed unit. I can only assume the old head was cooked - and thats why a new one was fitted.
I know from past experinace in refurbed heads they are not true- or flat.
for people to make a quick few quid on stripping down cocked ones- cleaning them up and selling on to unsuspected customers.
Ill take it off tomorrow and check if the main block has not warped and also the head itself.
Ive been told it has been known for the main block to warp under extreme heat- but thankfully is rare. !
its feels like its blown the gasket over one piston- because of the misfiring feel.
Either way i'll strip it down and get it checked for flatness, if it warped- i'll get it skimmed .
One question- do you know if the Head bolts are stretch type- or can i reuse them ?
dont want to spend much as its just a runabout i picked up cheap.
I have found complete head sets on ebay for the gaskets on manifolds- water pump etc etc, but i'll see what i can save before actually buying them.
I'll let people know on here and take a few pics as i go !!.
Cheers

The head gAsket is blown or the head is cracked. If it has been hot it will need the head checked for cracks, valves done and surface plained or you can get a different head.
Also if it has been too hot the piston rings could stick. So... tear it down and see what you find[if needed find a good eng tech to look at it] and go from there, sorry:(

I picked up a whole rebuild kit for about $250.00 on ebay and all the bolts came with it so I do not know if they are the stretch kind or not.

I got the block machined and bored for about another $250.00 so I think if you are going to tear the head off of it the just redo the whole motor. It will be well woth it.
