Hi all first time Post im a new member. I'm looking to sell my landcruiser and the work car and the spare gti and the jeep wagonneer . to get a Jimny but I see there are a few different models like the G13BB motor and the other one. I'm wanting an automatic but I'm not sure what they would be like in a under powered small 4x4. I do love to go offroading but the cruiser is to much to run.
Do can any one five is some tips on buying a second hand Jimny like what to look out for , us the auto not worth it? What's involved in giving it a lift kit. It's going to be my commute car too. look forward to some replys.

The G13BB is a smaller version of the old G16B engine, 'the other engine' is the M13A engine and is a more modern DOHC engine with chain drive, there is also the later M13AA which gained VVT. Which one to go for probably depends as much on your budget as anything else, the newer engines are a little more efficient but obviously cost more.
I haven't driven an auto but they seem to be quite well regarded although if you are doing a lot of slow driving in high ambient temperatures then an additional or larger oil cooler is recommended.
For a DD I would stick to a fairly moderate lift, I have a 2" JimnyBits spring lift with longer shocks and castor correction bushes. Its very bouncy but I do have a set of offset rims to fit. I drive 24miles a day along a fast B road, averaging 50-60mph.
Watch for corrosion in the rear where the jack lives and around the headlights and make sure that you drive it at 40-50mph to check for the 'death wobble' - usually a result of worn king-pins bearings.

Hello all
I have not been here in while. I am in Jamaica with may car. I have a 1999 Jimny with an G13BB motor. I had a failure which when we pull the motor apart we see draged pistons and blown head gaskets. We are now looking at the replacemnt of the lower block as it may be simpler to change thanto rebuild by resleaving the cylinders along with bearings and rings etc.
It was been difficult that to find a used block to move ahead with the repairs as this engine is the older model.
Can the M blocks fit as a replacement option?
What should i best do?
