Is it wrong to serve my 1.5 swift with the sport's model spark plugs (iridium core)?

Or will it be beneficial?

Dont bother, copper will do you fine. I can garentee you will not feel any benefits what-so-ever from them.
The only use for plugs such as iridium is on high HP applications. just ensures it doesnt misfire if running a little rich which can be a big problem in high performace vehicles.

Not a problem, um there are a few things you can do, however forced induction such as turbocharging is the only way to get real power.
Things you can do include:
> Exhaust - including headers, the less mufflers you have the better it will flow(maximum flow is the aim).
> Cold Air Induction - there are various companies that provide these, you will notice quite a significant diffrence with this done on a smaller engine.
> Easiest way to make it quicker is to shed weight from the vehicle. This is the reason why EG and EK Honda Civics are so darn fast. There are plenty of ways to shed weight, from removing the back seats and spare tire to getting a carbon fibre bonnet and lightweight front bucket seats and removing all the sound deadining. its really up to you if you take this path though becasue it does make it a little unpracticle if you drive it daily.
> Changine the ignition leads, iv found NGK are the best around.
> Upgrading the Coilpacks, Splitfire are very reputable brand.
> Lightweight wheels. Brands such as Work, Volk, Enkei, Mugen will provide you with some of the best around. Remember that the bigger wheel you go, the more weight is being added to the car so id reccomend either 15" or 16". However no bigger then 15" if you have less then a 1.5L engine.
> other then that you ahve to start working on the engine with a mechanic. You cant change too much without having the computer tuned up again to provide the correct air/fuel mixture to the engine. People will go ahead and change things like the throttle body without having the car retuned, please do not do this, your limiting the life of your engine really quickly if you do.

I disagree.

Iridium WILL make a difference. It may not give you much in terms of horsepower, but it will make the car start easier, make a small difference in economy, and will for sure last a LOT longer.

I changed my plugs from the standard copper NGK to Bosch FGR7DQI on my Grand Vitara, and I instantly got a massive improvement on economy, and a slightly better speeder response. This was changing from a less than 15.000km fresh sparkplug, and they were all good and adjusted to spec before I swapped them out.

I will change to these plugs on my Swift when they are up for change, until then I do not care, as the improvement is not going to pay itself in saved petrol or performance.

I will recommend the Iridiums though.

Anyone telling otherwise simply does not know what they talk about.

Do you even know what platfroms Iridium or Bosh 'platnum" plugs are used in, and their purpose???

Im talking from a LOT of experience, working from stock na cars up to 1000HP monsters. If you do research you will find that for high HP platforms the ultimate problem is keeping temps down. diffrent plugs will burn colder or basic ones will burn a little hotter.

You dont need your car to start easier. if its not starting well then get it checked out, putting expensive plugs in wont change this. It should still start....
Economy is next to nothing, generally people who look at these types of upgrades drive something with a bit of grunt. economy is the leastt of their worries....
Yea they last longer, but at nearly $25 per plug, they would want to last a long time.

The purpose of the plugs is to provide high ignitability. not improve performance or to save on fuel.

You will not gain any benefits whatsoever by using them unless you have a high HP application. then they are essential.

I don't want to discuss this.

I only changed to the iridium plugs because that is what my car had from the factory, and they were mistakenly replaced by the dealership too early.

I expected NOTHING from the change, but was very surprised to see that I did get an immediate 10-15% increase in fuel economy (I went from 16l/100km to 13.5l/100km in the city overnight with no other changes) This has been consistent ever since (I only travel between work and home in this car)

I have also done some long distance testing, and here also, I saw a similar increase in economy.

Talking of Monster HP applications does not apply here, and I don't care what experience you have. What I say is simple fact, it is not based on something I have read or had some great idea of expecting, but simply based on actual performance discovered.

Why would you not want you car to start easier, or increase your economy if you can ??

Why would you not want to change to a plug that will last you 100.000 to 120.000km instead of 30.000 ?

In regards to your "platform" statement, the plugs listed are the direct equivalent of the iridium plugs listed in the dealer workshop manual.

The price is not that different, the plugs just cost me $75 for a 6 pack.
