I am trying to import a 2016 Jimny into the US Virgin Islands. I am having issues with the EPA here. Is there anything out there that says these cars are identical to an EPA compliant vehicle, has anyone tried this before and could maybe give me some advice? Any help is much appreciated. Bought the vehicle from Tortola.

importing a Jimny to the US...

...is pretty much impossible - no, make that impractical - to do.

The law says that a vehicle that is not manufactured for the US market can only be imported into the United States if:

A it is more than 25 years old.

2. it has been modified at the owner's expense to meet EPA vehicle specifications upon inspection by the EPA. Information on how to do that is not easily obtainable.

III. it is a kit car. (I mention this because you COULD purchase a Jimny in the UK and have it converted by Dutton Ltd. to an amphibious vehicle then imported. They also make a kit car based on the Mark 8 Fiesta)

That is the Reader's Digest version of how it works.
