I recently had a distributor inner "O" ring oil leak repaired by a neighborhood auto repair shop. Ever since, my 1997 Tracker (auto, 4 WD) knocks and pings and has reduced power. The repair shop claimed it was due to a dirty throttle body and cleaned that, but NO impact on my complaint. Is the ignition timing on the G16 engine entirely controlled by the ECM or could the distributor be set up improperly?
